About 35 people, including 48th District State Senator Chris Gebhard attended Thursday’s Veterans Day program at Fisher Veterans Park in the city of Lebanon.

An Honor Guard from the VFW Post 23 provided a rifle volley and taps was blown to commemorate the holiday.

Former Lebanon City Councilman Richard Bleistine, a Navy veteran and member of the Honor Guard told the story of Sgt. F. Younger of the 5th Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, who was assigned the duty to select one of four soldiers killed in battle in France to become the first unknown soldier placed in the tomb at Arlington National Cemetery:

A medley of marches from each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces was also played during the ceremony.
