48th District State Senate Democratic Party candidate, Dr. Calvin Clements is filing a lawsuit to have one of the top GOP gubernatorial candidates thrown off the ballot.
Clements believes Franklin County Senator Doug Mastriano is ineligible to hold any elective office under Section 3 of the 14th amendment to the U.S. Constitution because of his participation in the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
Speaking on WLBR’s “Talk of the Town” show Wednesday, Clements’ attorney, Rich Raiders said despite past statements by Mastriano that he was nowhere near the Capitol as the mob descended upon it, he was caught on tape:
Since January 6th has never been formally been declared an insurrection, Raiders said it’s up to the courts to make that determination.
Dr. Clements believes strongly that Mastriano is ineligible to hold office and is willing to put his money behind that belief:
Raiders is hoping to get Dr. Clements’ case consolidated with another from Williamsport, alleging the same thing. But even if that doesn’t happen, Clements will be moving forward with the legal challenge on his own.
