Northern Lebanon Kindergarten Student Left on Bus

A PM Kindergarten student in the Northern Lebanon School District fell asleep on his school bus Tuesday and was left alone after the driver failed to check the bus before leaving it at the bus company parking lot.

Nicole Vogie’s five year old son entered the D.B. Fisher Company bus around 11:30AM, bound for Jonestown Elementary, but it takes about an hour to get there from his home near Fort Indiantown Gap. Vogie tells the Lebanon Valley News that her son was likely alone on the bus for about an hour:

However, although that occured around 1:20PM Tuesday, Vogie didn’t receive a call from anyone until well after 2PM.

It came from a D.B. Fisher employee and not the school district, because Northern Lebanon doesn’t place calls to parents when afternoon students are marked absent.

Vogie has spoken with Superintendent, Dr. Gary Messinger and that policy will be changing:

Dr. Messinger is also rerouting a transport van to pick up her son for school, since he’s now terrified to get on a bus.

While she appreciates the accommodation, Vogie is still very concerned about what happened and the breakdown in communications.

D.B. Fisher Bus Company has fired that driver.
