Big changes are already underway within the Palmyra Area School District and they began within minutes of the swearing-in of five of the six Republican School Directors elected in November.
Last Thursday, following the swearing-in of new Republican Board Members Joshua Jones, Mike Koval, Mandy Braden, Kayla Leiberher, and Maryann Cini, an agenda item to hire Goldstein Law partners from Hatfield, Montgomery County came up for a vote.
The firm would replace longtime Solicitor Robert Frankhouser from Barley Snyder Law Firm in Lancaster.
Incumbent Board Member Christine Fisher asked when this decision was made, and by who.
Mandy Braden told her:
However, the website for Goldstein Law Partners says their work focuses on eight distinct practice areas, but none of them is specifically educational law. In addition, none of the firm’s lawyers list education law as a focus of their individual practices.
But Board President Joshua Jones said he wasn’t concerned:
The move passed on a 6-to-1 vote with Fisher in the negative. Board members Larry Geib and Alicia Haldeman were absent from the meeting.
The Lebanon Valley Daily News has submitted a right-to-know request with the district to obtain more information pertaining to this move. We are awaiting a response.
