Some very promising movement on the employment front for open correctional officer slots at the Lebanon County Correctional Facility.
While the personnel transactions approved during Thursday’s County Commission meeting included two resignations from the guard staff, the hiring of five full time correctional officers was also approved. Among those five were two re-hires.
County Human Resources Director Michelle Snavely said last month’s ratification of a new contract for the correctional officer staff, with increased hourly pay and enhanced benefits for full time guards seems to be attracting more people to the numerous open positions at the jail:
Under the new contract, the starting pay for full time correctional officers is $21 per hour.
Last month, Snavely confirmed that Lebanon County now pays more per hour for a starting correctional officer than any other fifth class county in the state.
