A Lebanon Middle School student has been identified as the victim of Tuesday night’s shooting in South Lebanon Township.
During a news conference at the Lebanon Municipal Building Thursday morning, District Attorney Pier Hess Graf displayed a large, poster-sized picture of 13-year old Jason Rivera, but provided few other details.
She said police responded to a parking lot in the 300 block of Vine Street Tuesday night to find the boy gunned down and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
She did not take any questions, saying it was out of respect for the wishes of Jason’s mother:
Jason was transported via ambulance to the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.
Jason’s aunt spoke during the news conference:
His grandmother also spoke, saying Jason told her he loved her on Sunday, before leaving her house to go watch the Super Bowl.
D.A. Graf opined that the nation is awash in gun violence but it would not be tolerated in Lebanon County.
She said the public needs to help law enforcement find Jason’s killer:
Jason was described as a kind and loving child who deserved to live a full life. He loved basketball and football, was obsessed with playing video games like Fortnight and hoped to get a pair of Air Jordan sneakers.
