Historic Chester church destroyed in overnight fire

Claymont firefighters joined their colleagues from across Delaware County, Pennsylvania in battling a five-alarm fire overnight in the City of Chester.

Flames ravaged the former Third Presbyterian Church at 9th and Upland Streets leaving nothing but the stone walls.

The blaze was reported around 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2020 and quickly escalated.

There’s no word on any injuries.
