The Lebanon County Sheriff’s office is taking a step into the digital age and will soon be offering applications for concealed carry permits online.
Last Thursday, Sheriff Jeff Marley received permission from County Commissioners to enter into a contract with Permitium, an online registration portal that citizens can use to submit their application and pay for it, online.
The online applications will be directed to the Sheriff’s office, and his personnel will go through their normal procedures to determine if the applicant qualifies:
If they’re denied, the Sheriff’s office will direct Permitium to send out a notice that they didn’t pass the background checks:
Sheriff Marley said there’s no cost to the county to enroll with Permitium because the company recoups its costs by charging a five dollar convenience fee on top of the $20 concealed carry permit cost.
Those who still wish to apply for a concealed carry permit in person will be able to do so.
