The William E. Ames Memorial Highway, a stretch of Route 322 that runs from Campbelltown in South Londonderry Township to the Dauphin County line, was dedicated yesterday.

48th District State Senator Chris Gebhard presided over the short ceremony in the parking lot of Mount Gretna Brewery in Campbelltown, where one of the memorial highway signs sits alongside the roadway:

Many local politicians and business leaders also spoke, including Chairman County Commissioner Bob Phillips, who served alongside Ames for ten years. He said Ames’ contribution to Lebanon County can never be overstated:

Lebanon Mayor Sherry Capello said she always looked to Ames for advice and he’d provide it, whether she liked what he had to say or not:

Commissioner Ames’ wife Josie, several of his relatives and grandchildren were in attendance and helped to unveil the road sign bearing his name.
