A puppy worth thousands of dollars and a bag of cash; items reported stolen from the residence of a Myerstown-area couple over a week ago.

State police from the Jonestown Barracks say the home on Stracks Dam Road in Jackson Township was burglarized not once, but twice last Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

During the initial burglary between 10:30AM and 2:15PM on January 18th, the thief or thieves made off with a plastic bag containing approximately $20,000 that was kept underneath a mattress in the house.

Troopers say that same person or persons then returned to the residence sometime between 5:00PM on January 18th and 5:00PM on the 19th, and proceeded to take a three-month-old female English Bulldog puppy valued at approximately five thousand dollars.

The puppy is described as being merle colored, meaning its coat comes in a spotted or smeared color patter.

The state police news release does not indicate how troopers determined the home was burglarized twice, but these thieves are currently under investigation. As always, they ask anyone with information about these crimes to contact them at the Jonestown Barracks at 717-865-2194.
