Three-term Lebanon County Commissioner Bill Ames passed away yesterday at Wellspan Good Samaritan Hospital, where he had been a patient for over a week battling Covid-19.
Ames announced publicly that he had contracted the respiratory virus on December 16th, during a commissioners meeting he participated in, via telephone from his home:
He was admitted to the hospital a few days later.
Shorty after his first election to the County Commission, Ames recognized the immense contribution of volunteers throughout Lebanon County:
Ames, himself, served on the board of the Salvation Army of Lebanon County, the United Way of Lebanon County, the Palmyra Area Business Association and the Lebanon Valley Chamber of Commerce.
Bill Ames was 81 years old.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be announced later today.
