The millennial generation has another representative trying to make their mark on Lebanon City Council in the November general election.
Last month, Big WiLBuR News interviewed 21-year old Independent candidate Alisher Aminov, after he submitted his nominating petitions for the November ballot. For most of the time that he was gathering signatures, 18-year old Zaelys DeArce was by his side… collecting signatures of her own.
Speaking exclusively with Big WiLBuR News Monday night after the Lebanon City Council meeting, she confirmed that she’ll also be on the ballot.
A Political Science Major who just started her studies at Penn State Berks, DeArce says her career goal is to be a politician and help people through the political system.
She says one of the biggest problems confronting Lebanon residents is a lack of communication:
If elected, DeArce said she’d work to have all city communications translated, not only into Spanish, but also Arabic to make the city more inclusive.
